Voluntary Pre-K

The voluntary Pre-K program (VPK) is a program which provides prekindergarten
funding in order to prepare our 4-year-olds for kindergarten. The state funded program
will pay licensed preschool providers who meet the qualifications for 540 hours of
instruction. The program will provide funding for three hours a day for 180 days.
Although the program will pay for the hours of 9:00 to 12:00, parents will be responsible
for extended care, or care that occurs outside of 9:00 to 12:00. Attendance is very
important. The state will not reimburse if the VPK children do not attend a minimum
of 80% of our program. In the case that a child misses more than the allowed days,
families will be required to private pay tuition for the remainder of the school year in
order to attend.
